About this book: (artist's statement)
This book was inspired by an excerpt from one of Keith Smith's books in
which he questions what makes a book: why is it that a stack of papers
is transformed into a book simply by the process of binding them
together. "Butterfly Press" is a collection of found papers and pressed
flowers, poetry and love letters, unbound and pressed into a hand-made
cherry flower press. The "book" is housed inside of a book-shaped box,
very delicate and crafted from hand-made papers (walnut and textile).
